This tour introduces you to the landscape of southern India which is dotted with magnificent temples, representing the ancient lives engraved in their architecture. Most of these temples were built by the medieval rulers of southern India like Cholas, Chalukyas, Nayakas, Pallavas, Kakatiyas and Vijayanagar rulers. All of them had their own distinct architectural style of constructing the temples. Of the hundreds of south Indian temples, Meenakshi temple in Madurai, Rock Fort Temple in Thiruchirapalli, Tirupati Tirumala Balaji in Tirupati and Somnathpur Temple in Karnataka are the most popular. Set on a rendezvous with the rich cultural past of Southern India, explore its exquisite temples, participate in its ritualistic practices to in order to fathom the ways of cultural existence of this community.
Tour Duration : (09 Nights / 10 Days)
Destination Covered : Chennai - Tirupathi - Mahabalipuram - Tiruvanamalai - Pondicherry - Rameshwaram.
Day 01 : Arrive at Chennai
On arrival in Chennai, transfer to the hotel. Afternoon visit to Gandhi memorial, Kala Kshetra, Mylapore temple and Marina beach.
Day 02 : Chennai to Tirupathi
Proceed to Tirupathi in the morning. Tirupathi and visit temple of Lord Venkateshwara here.
Day 03 : Tirupathi - Chennai - Mahabalipuram
Drive to Mamallapuram via Chennai is planned for the day.
Day 04 : Mamallapuram - Tiruvanamalai - Pondicherry
Drive to visit Tiruvanamalai. After lunch at local restaurant proceed to Pondicherry.
Day 05 : Pondicherry
Drive to Aurbindo Ashram. Afternoon visit to Auroville.
Day 06 : Pondicherry - Chidambaram - Thanjavur
Drive to Chidambaram to visit famous Natraja Temple. Afternoon drive to Thanjavur to view 15m high temple tower on a square base of 29m and then tapers off making a total of 66m.
Day 07 : Thanjavur - Trichy
After breakfast, leave by surface for Trichy. Visit Rock fort, Srirangam and Jambukeshwar temple at Trichy.
Day 08 : Trichy - Madurai
After breakfast proceed to Madurai. Afternoon visit to Meenakshi temple, King Tirumalai's Palace, Great Tank and Gandhi Museum.
Day 09 : Madurai - Rameshwaram
Proceed for Rameshwaram temple - the most sacred temple town of India.
Day 10 : Madurai - Chennai - Depature
Transfer to the airport to catch flight to Chennai and get connected to next flight to onward destination.
